Material Safety
Materials used in these products
The motors and pouches on this shelf are made from silicone, ABS plastic and textile. This page describes those materials in general terms, and what we do and do not claim about them.
Silicone
Silicone used on the parts that contact skin is described here as body-safe, and where the manufacturer states it, as medical-grade silicone. That phrase is a general description of the grade of material, not a claim of certification: we do not hold, quote or imply a certificate from any standards body, and we do not claim that any item carries a regulator’s registration or authorisation. Silicone is non-porous, which makes it straightforward to clean and slow to hold odours when it is washed properly.
Phthalates and other additives
The silicone and ABS parts we stock are described as phthalate-free, meaning the manufacturer states that no phthalate plasticisers were added to those materials. That statement is based on supplier information rather than on testing we carry out ourselves.
Cleaner compatibility
Use warm water with a mild, silicone-safe cleaner, or a fragrance-free soap, on a soft cloth. Then rinse and dry completely. Avoid alcohol-based sanitisers, petrol-based solvents, acetone, bleach and abrasive pads; they dull silicone and can break down the surface over time. Do not boil silicone parts unless the product page says the item is designed for it, and never immerse a charging port, a cable or a non-waterproof handle. Water-based lubricants are compatible with silicone; silicone-based lubricants are not, and should be kept away from silicone surfaces.
Storing materials together
Silicone stored in direct contact with another silicone item for a long period can become tacky. The lined pouch is there to keep items separate, and storing them dry in a cool drawer avoids the problem entirely.
California Proposition 65 and other disclosures
Our Prop 65 page explains California’s warning requirement. Whether a specific product carries a warning, the exact wording, and any supporting documentation must be confirmed by the operator before this store accepts live orders. We do not add a warning that has not been supplied, and we do not remove one that has.
If a material irritates your skin
Stop using the item and contact us. Discontinue use of any product that causes irritation, and speak to a qualified clinician about a persistent reaction. This page describes materials; it is not medical advice, and it makes no claim about any condition.
